24-hour PSI trend
24-hour PSI is an average over the past day, so it moves slowly. For what the air is like right now, use the 1-hour PM2.5 figure under each area: 0–55 normal, 56–150 elevated, 151–250 high, above 250 very high.

When to get medical help
Irritated eyes, nose or throat are common in haze and usually clear on their own. Symptoms can show up one to three days after exposure.
See a doctor if you feel unwell, and do it promptly for elderly people, children, pregnant women and anyone with a heart or lung condition. If someone is struggling to breathe or has chest pain, call 995.
Most homes need three things: a purifier that fits the room, a spare filter and a few proper masks. Items marked "NEA guidance" follow the agency's published advice. Items marked "Practical tip" are this page's own suggestions.

Size your air purifier
